Frequently asked questions.

are your itineraries flexible?

Absolutely! Our brand is proud of how customisable all of our trips are. Please email or call us and one of our team will gather an idea of exactly what you’re looking for and we will create a bespoke trip to tick all your boxes. Our website itineraries are merely a starting point.

How do you pick your guides and partners?

Our accommodation, activity and transport partners are hand picked and visited by our co-founders. Our only Kilimanjaro guide, for example, is the actual person who guided one of our co-founders up the mountain when he climbed. As our business is built on connecting tourists with the very highest quality partners, we only take on partners who we have both been thoroughly vetted, and personally met by at least one of our two co-founders.

Malaria

We do operate tours in malaria areas and we recommend you visit your doctor to get a prescription for anti-malarials if you join us to one of these destinations. We do have malaria free safari destinations available for those who would prefer to opt for this precaution.

Children

Some of our accommodation options (some safari lodges and camps) do not allow children at their premises, or restrict which accommodation type they can sleep in. We will advise you if this is relevant to your itinerary, but mostly children will be welcome.

cancellation policy

Please enquire about the cancellation policy specific to your package when booking, as the itinerary that you require will affect this (for example, if you request we book flights for you, these are often non-refundable). We will try our best to refund you, however in most cases this is not possible and we can offer a partial refund.

Dietary requirements

We will make a very special effort to match you with accommodations and activities that adhere to your allergy/dietary requirements. Our accommodations mostly have very flexible food options. Please let us know about any requirements in your group when talking to our itinerary specialists.

accessibilty and special requirements

Please let us know your accessibility and special requirements when enquiring about your package of choice, and we will try our utmost to ensure they can be met.

travel insurance

You are required to arrange the appropriate travel insurance for your travel in order to book a holiday with us. We will not be liable for any losses whatsoever that occur before, during, or after your holiday that would be covered by any level of travel insurance.

Referrals

You love us? We love you spreading the love! If you refer someone to Mahari Travel and they confirm a booking with us, you will be given £1,000 credit to use on an adventure with us. If the group size is more than 5 people, you will be given £2,000 credit. Enquire now for the full T’s & C’s of this offer.
